Congratulations to CTDRU for receiving CDERI (aka RICDE: Research Institute for Computing and the Digital Economy:) funding which is a new incentivisation strategy based on the latest EFAS (electronic funding and application system) activity report. The funding results from applications made to external funding bodies. If successful the fund can be awarded up to £5000 in addition to the external grant.

Danny Clegg visited Bangor University , North Wales to diseeminate his research and talk about KESS.
His project is funded by Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships (KESS) and Tonus ,an organisation within Wales aimed at encouraging collaboration between Universities and local companies. On occasion he met with Penny Dowdney , head of KESS for Bangor University (KESS Central) at national events and the international doctoral school in 2013.

One of our CTDRU members, Danny Clegg, is on a fully funded PhD studentship courtesy of Tonus, KESS and ESF. The funding organisation who organised the studentship is called ”Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships” (KESS), and works in partnership with the European Social Fund (ESF) to create studentships at Master of Research (MRes) and PhD level.

The Chiropractic Research Unit will now be known as The Clinical Technology and Diagnostics Research Unit.
The reason behind the name change is to emphasise the shift from having a strong chiropractic and complementary medical influence, to one which has become more cross faculty; being heavily linked to the study of applied technology in a diagnostic setting (working with members of CEPE and Prof Wilcox’s groups in advanced technology).

Annabel Kier & Peter McCarthy have been awarded a grant of £4,980 to continue their research into the benefits of using patients to relate their experience regarding back pain as a way of enhancing the importance of addressing yellow flag issues when managing such patients.
