Research into the application of cardiac pacing technology is showing how this maturing technology is becoming more common in Wales allowing a better understanding of the complications and risks associated with implantable devices

A clinical trial using a new device for assessing peripheral arterial disease (PAD) has shown that it is provides a useful screening tool for use in the home or GP surgery. The PIPETTE study has shown that PAD affects 3% of the adults, in an adult population recruited within the Cwm Taf area of South Wales. Research continues on developing the potential of the peripheral pulse volume waveform as a diagnostic measure of PAD.
